Panasonic X900/X900M can capture and play 1920 x 1080 high definition videos at 60p, in native 28Mbps, but when you want to import Panasonic X900/X900M 1080p AVCHD recordings to MAC editing software for further editing, the incompatiblity problem will jump out and hinder your way. Because the 1080 60/50p mts is not a good editing format, as we know, have many editing software on Mac, such as: Final Cut Pro (6,7, X), Final Cut Express 4, iMovie, Avid, Adobe Premiere Pro, After effects. This article will tell you the best way to convert Panasonic x900/x900m 1080 60p/50p mts to mac editing software.
Preparation Software:
Panasonic MTS Video Converter for Mac ( Free Download and install, include mac lion.)
Step by step to convert Panasonic 1080 60p/50p MTS on Mac


Step 1: Run the Panasonic 1080P MTS Video Converter for Mac, importing AVCHD MTS files to this mts converter software from Panasonic X900/X900M by use a USB cable to Connect Panasonic X900/X900M to Mac. If you have put your recordings to HDD, you can directly drag the .mts files to the converter. After that, you should double click files to see whether they can be previewed normally.

Step 2: Choose the output format for mac editing software.
a. For Final Cut Pro
For FCP 6,7 and FCP X the best format is Apple Prores codec mov ,You should choose the “Final Cut Pro>Apple ProRes 422(*mov)” for FCP.

b. For iMovie
iMovie’s native format is Apple Intermediate Codec (*.mov), so you’d better choose “iMovie and Final Cut Express >>Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) (*.mov)” as output format.
c. For Final Cut Express
Click on “Format” and choose “iMovie and Final Cut Express >>Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) (*.mov)”. The format is developed by Apple and is natively supported by FCE. AIC encoded .mov video can be instantly imported to FCE without long-time rendering.

d. For Avid Media Composer
Click on the dropdown menu of “Format” to select “Avid Studio” > “Avid DHxHD 1080p (*.mov)” as target format. This format is specially designed for using in Avid Studio and Avid Media Composer, so you can turn your mts clips into editable footage for your Avid editing software.

e. For Adobe Premiere Pro
MOV (AVC) video format is compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro, so you can choose Adobe Premiere -> MOV (AVC) (*.mov) as output format.

f. For After effects
For After effetcs you can choose the HD video -> MPEG-2 HD Video(*.mpg) as output format.

Step 3. Set bit rate to 28Mbps.
Click the “Settings” button, and enter 28000 for the bit rate in kbps. The Mac Panasonic MTS converter will convert video in 28Mbps. If you enter 17000 or 13000, you will get files in 17Mbps or 13Mbps. You can also change frame rate to 60fps.

Step 4: Start “Convert”. This converter will help you convert 60p/50p mts videos with best quality, and then you can edit the files in your mac editing software as you want with no codec problems.
After converting Panasonic X900/X900M 60p/50p .mts files, just import the output files in HD 1920×1080 to FCP, FCE, iMovie, Avid, Adobe Premiere, After effects for editing.
